Accessibility statement

Last updated May 2026
We want our practice and our website to be usable by as many people as possible. This page explains the steps we have taken, and how to get help if anything blocks you from using our service.
01 . Commitment

Our commitment

Bains Optical Healthcare is committed to making our services accessible to all our patients, including those with disabilities. This applies to the physical practice in Heath Hayes, to our website, and to all the ways we communicate with you.

If something stops you from using our service, we want to know. We will work with you to find a way around it, and we will fix the underlying problem where we can.

02 . The practice

Visiting our practice

Our practice is at 160-162 Hednesford Road, Heath Hayes, Cannock, WS12 3DZ. If you have specific needs that might affect your visit, please phone or email us before your appointment. We are a small independent practice and we can usually make arrangements with a little notice.

If you need extra help getting to us

Please call ahead on 01543 279415. We can discuss:

  • The best way to reach the practice and where to park
  • Help getting from your transport to the consulting room
  • Extra time in your appointment if you need to take things at your own pace
  • A quieter time slot if a busy waiting area is overwhelming
  • Any specific access or mobility needs we can prepare for
03 . Communication

How we communicate

We can adapt how we communicate with you to suit your needs.

If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired

  • You can contact us by email instead of phone: Info@bainsoptical.co.uk
  • You can use the Relay UK text-relay service to call us: dial 18001 then 01543 279415
  • British Sign Language interpreters: we are happy to accommodate BSL interpreters at your appointment. Please book with a few days' notice so we can confirm the timing

If you are visually impaired

  • We can provide your prescription, correspondence, and information in large print at no extra cost
  • We can read documents aloud during your appointment
  • Alternative formats are available on request, with reasonable notice

If English is not your first language

  • You are welcome to bring a family member, friend, or professional interpreter to translate during your appointment
  • Tell us when booking and we will arrange a longer slot
04 . Website

Our website

This website is designed to be accessible to as many people as possible. We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which is the international standard recognised by UK accessibility regulations.

What we have done

  • Used clear, readable typography with sufficient size and contrast
  • Provided alternative text for meaningful images
  • Made the site usable by keyboard, without requiring a mouse
  • Used semantic HTML so screen readers can navigate properly
  • Honoured the prefers-reduced-motion setting in your browser or operating system, so animations are disabled if you have asked for less motion
  • Tested the site on multiple devices, browsers, and screen sizes

If you encounter a problem

Please let us know. We will fix it, or find another way to give you the information you needed. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.

05 . Feedback

Tell us if we have got it wrong

If you have struggled to use our service, the website, or any communication from us, we want to hear about it. We treat every accessibility complaint or suggestion seriously. Our aim is to fix the problem for you, and to improve things for the next person.
